Jeff Grayzel and Mary Marley-Reidy:
Proven leaders for open and responsible Township Government.
Jeff Grayzel
Jeff Grayzel has spearheaded efforts to open Morris Township Government to you and your ideas. In his first term, he:
· Forced the opening of budget hearings to residents. Now you have a say as to how the Township’s $32 million budget is spent!
· Opened Township Government to debate, new ideas, and resident input. After years of one-party, 5-0 votes, there’s now more open debate, exchange of ideas, and resident participation! More of you are attending Township Committee meetings and voicing your opinions—resulting in better decisions and a better Township Government.
· Introduced the Citizen Service Act to open Township volunteer appointments to all residents—not just those with connections. Currently there is no public notification of the almost 90 volunteer positions available each year. Jeff is fighting to change that—and to provide you with greater opportunity to contribute your skills and expertise to improve your Township.
· Opened communication with residents. Jeff issues a detailed e-newsletter each month that reports on Committee meetings and actions and public input at the meetings, as well as community news. Now you know what’s really going on in your Township Government!
· Has been a voice for residents. Jeff has represented you and your concerns about traffic, safety, unwanted development, and other issues that matter to you every day. Jeff will continue to act as your voice in Government.
· Increased recycling efforts. Now the Township recycles more plastics and electronic waste, meaning reduced taxes and a better environment for you and your community.
Mary Marley-Reidy
Mary Marley-Reidy is an experienced, no-nonsense financial executive who will ensure your tax dollars are well spent.
· Fiscal responsibility and oversight. Morris Township’s current budget is $32 million! Mary will bring her financial, accounting and auditing expertise to carefully examine the budget and its expenditures, and make sure the budget is the right use of your tax dollars. She will also:
· Set clear objectives to stop annual tax and budget increases.
· End automatic pay increases for Township managers and use a more business-focused merit pay policy instead.
· Share services with other municipalities—in a smart way that makes sense—to eliminate duplication, increase efficiencies, and reduce costs.
· Support efforts to further open Township Government to you and your ideas.
· Bring a woman’s voice back to the all-male Township Committee. After years of having no woman representative on the five-member Township Committee, it’s time to make a change.
There’s more to be done!
Re-elect Jeff Grayzel and elect Mary-Marley-Reidy. Together they will:
· Further open Township Government to you by broadcasting committee meetings on cable TV.
· Make our Township more pedestrian-friendly by increasing trails and walkways.
· Further increase recycling efforts that save tax dollars and improve the environment.
· Welcome your input and be your voice on the issues that matter to you every day: controlling speeding, managing traffic, preventing unwise development, and adding open spaces.
